Training at Kaiser Associates
Formal training is one critical component to Kaiser Associates development program. New consultants attend the new hire orientation program during their first week at Kaiser. The program is designed to provide all consultants with a solid foundation for beginning their career at Kaiser. We train our staff on the core skills they will use during their engagements — research, analysis, communication skills, and presentation writing. We complement this classroom learning with an engagement simulation; for each consulting skills training session, there is a corresponding exercise relating the training content. This supplemental program allows new employees to apply acquired knowledge and skills to an actual client engagement in a simulated setting.
Beyond the formal new hire orientation, Kaiser Associates offers a variety of other training opportunities throughout one's career at Kaiser. Several times a year, the firm will focus on a specific skill or competency area and provide training to all staff. In the past, we have created training that highlighted financial analysis, oral communications, professionalism, and engagement management. To accomplish goals outlined in an individual's own development plan, a consultant may attend other training sessions offered by Kaiser or from external sources. Additionally, brown bag lunches and roundtable discussions are hosted by various officers and managers throughout the year to share their ideas and experience on important topics. Book review sessions allow for exchange on the latest business reading — recently our senior consultants in London and DC held sessions around First, Break All the Rules to highlight learnings around successfully motivating staff and leading teams. Kaiser also has an active alumni community; we host events to allow employees to network and learn from alumni.
Shiva: "Using the foundational skills I built up at Kaiser over the past few years, I decided to apply to business school in order to pursue my MBA. Thanks to what I learned at Kaiser, I will be attending Harvard Business School this coming fall."
